Jack 4 month Stats

Jack went to visit Dr. Havlik yesterday.  We had a good visit!  Jack only screamed for a second when he got his shots and otherwise was his typical happy self.

Here are his stats.
Weight:  17 lbs 4 oz. (88%)
Height: 26.25 in (88%)
Head: 42.6 cm (57%)

Developmental Questions.
Can he hold his own head up?  Yes
Can he stand when held at the chest?  Yes
Can he follow an object from one side of the room to another?  Yes
Does his smile and giggle at you?  Yes
Can he look at or does he gaze at his hands?  Yes
Is he rolling over?  No (But, he is trying really hard to sit up.  When propped on pillows, he pulls himself up to sitting by doing this super crunch thing.  He instantly tips over, of course, but he definitely has strong stomach muscles.)

Other things worth noting.

  • He gets to start solid foods now (but not until I make it to the grocery store).  Dr. Havlik's rule is only introduce a new food every 4 days in order to watch for food allergies.
  • Jack is cute!
  • Jack has so much ear wax that Dr. Havlik didn't get a good look at his ears, but since he has no symptoms of ear infections, there was no need to use the painful ear scraper that he uses on Molly.  (I was a little curious to see Jack's reaction if he would have used it.  That way I would have known how bad it really is since it makes Molly scream.)
  • Molly comparison - At 4 months, Jack has now finally passed up Molly by 1 pound, but she was still taller than him by a quarter of an inch. (What's weird is that Molly's weigh put her in the 98th percentile and Jack at a pound heavier is at the 88th percentile.  I didn't realize it was that different for boys and girls at this age.)  Also, Jack and Molly have/had small heads at this point in percentile terms, but Molly's head has always looked big to me and Jack's head does look small to me.  Oh well.  Whatever.

Here are some comparison pictures.
