Summer Work - Pioneer Photos

I am a teacher, but during the summer I have an extra job. I work for the Utah State Historical Society as a "digital archivist," which is a fancy name for putting old photographs on the internet.

I have worked for the Hysterical Society since January of 2000 when I decided I'd had enough emptying parking meters while driving around in a golf cart at the U. We started the digitization projects in 2002 and I have been doing that ever since. Here is a link to all of the photos that are online. There are currently around 23000 photos that can be seen online. My hand has been in all but maybe 4000-5000 of those. The cool thing is that this doesn't even put a dent in all the photographs that are at the Hysterical Society! There are tons.

Seeing how it was pioneer day this week, I thought I would share some pioneer photos.

This photo is a float from the 1915 Pioneer Day parade. It was done by the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company. Click here.

Here is a wagon train in the 1912 Pioneer Day parade. This photo was taken at Liberty Park which is where the parade now days, ends. Click here.
