Fame & Fortune on the Morning News

Cool School of the Week with Big Budah at Hunter High School.

One Fish, Two Fish, Dead Fish, A New Fish

Whytnee's family decorated the tables at the wedding reception with betta fish.  It was a little impractical for my taste, but definitely unique.  When I realized that there were fish centered on every table, I thought, "What are they going to do with all these fish?"  My question was answered at the end of the evening when Whtynee's mom asked if we wanted a fish.  We are kind of anti-pets at our house, so I had to think about it and decided to just ask Molly.  She, of course, said, "Yes," so we took home a fish.

We stopped at the Evil Wal-Empire on the way home to buy some fish food and we set it on our kitchen table.  On the ride home, Molly said to name it "Bobby," but then the next morning decided to name it "Bear," and then more specifically, "Panda Bear" or "Polar Bear."

It swam around all day Sunday, but on Monday morning it had burrowed into the blue rocks at the bottom of the vase.  I wiggled the vase a little and it came loose, slowly floating to the top.  Um . . .  it was dead.

I thought maybe we had fed it too much.  James thinks that in Molly's excitement Sunday morning she actually touched it when she put her finger in the vase and that killed it.  I don't know what happened, but it died.

We thought about it for a while and then decided to give the pet fish thing a try and go buy one.   The new one's name is also "Bear."  It's been alive for 2 whole days.

Wedding Day!

Jarrell and Whytnee got married on Saturday.  It was a great day with good weather and blue sky.  Here are the highlights:
  • Marriage ceremony at the Brigham City Temple - the temple was really pretty!
  • Lunch at Maddox Lodge - food choices were Trout, Turkey Steak, or Fried Chicken.  James and Jason were critical of the fried chicken, but my turkey steak was good.  My only complaint is that they didn't bring enough rolls around to use up all the honey butter and raspberry butter.
  • 45 minute layover at our house for us, Annie's family, Jason, and Amber
  • Reception in American Fork at Whytnee's church
  • Jason rode down to American Fork with us and Amber rode back home with us afterward.
  • Everyone in the immediate Binggeli Family was in attendance except for Colton, who was not permitted to leave Fort Carson since he and Amber have just barely been moved there from North Carolina.

Senior Night

The Hunter Wolverines have had a pretty good basketball season this year and have been perfect in region play (with one more game to go).  They are headed to the state tournament next week and we hope they get to make it to the second round.

Friday night was "Senior Night" and the last time we'll get to watch Uncle Willie play basketball at Hunter High School.  Of course this kid will go on to bigger and better things in his life, but I will miss this.

Poor Jack

Jack had a pretty rough wedding day on Saturday.  I was a pretty bad mom, I guess, and let him get totally beat up.  Thank goodness he survived and no one called authorities on us.

1) At the wedding luncheon, Jack was tired and getting super restless.  I don't usually let him crawl around on random floors, but I couldn't hold him anymore.  I put him down and let him crawl around.  I was literally walking right behind him when something caught my attention and I stopped and looked away for probably 2 seconds.  When I turned back around, Jack was about 10 steps ahead of me and right in front of the large swinging double doors into the kitchen.  I rushed to grab him, but swept him up just a half of a second too late.  He was rammed and run over by a kid pushing a cart full of salad plates.  Oh crap!

He got a bloody nose out of it. Screamed for a minute or so, and then actually relaxed enough to fall asleep for about a half hour.  Once awake, he was totally fine.

2) We stopped at our house on the way from Brigham City to American Fork.  We were only at our house for probably 45 minutes.  Annie and her family, Amber, and Jason were all there, too.  That means there were 6 adults and 3 out of 5 kids older than Jack who could have potentially stopped this from happening, but none of us were around right at that moment.

What happened?  He fell down the stairs . . .  all the way to the bottom.  He screamed for probably 30 seconds is all.  He luckily didn't seem to break anything and only had a mild floor burn on his forehead to show for it.  It could have been so much worse.  Thank goodness he survived and though I said I was going to buy a gate on Monday, I didn't, but haven't let him out of my sight.

Sorry, Jack.

Wedding Cake Pops

Jarrell, the youngest member of the Binggeli siblings, got married on Saturday.  I wanted to do a party favor for the wedding luncheon and when Mary mentioned there would be no dessert at that portion of the celebration, I thought an edible party favor might be a good idea.

I asked my baking expert, creative, wedding planner sister for ideas and she decided we were going to do cake pops.  I took us all night (though not quite as long as it would have with the rescuing help of my Aunt Karen), but we got around 150 cake pops made, bagged, and labeled. I am not good at stuff like this, but I am good at following directions and thanks to Annie and Karen, we got it done.

They were quite the hit at the wedding!

(*Side note: Perhaps the best part of making these was that I cleaned off my kitchen island.  I think this is the first time I had seen it in it's entirety for about 6 months.  It's covered again, today, but it did last about 48 hours.)

Not Sick Anymore

Molly's gunk lasted just the day that it started.  By Sunday afternoon, she was back to her normal crazy self, starving, and doing pretty well.

James's gunk lasted a couple of days, but I think he is doing better, too.

I have had this stupid cold for more than 3 weeks now and though I can tell it is finally getting better, I am really tired of coughing and having a head full of goo.

Jack, I think, has had the same thing as me and just can't seem to get rid of the runny nose, but I think he is also doing a little better.

Here are two videos of Molly from the day after the pukage.
