Sara the Singer

On Friday at school I decided to support the Senior Talent Show by going down to the auditorium in the morning. I watched 2 1/2 acts and was pretty impressed by one of them. It was a girl and a boy. The boy played the guitar while the girl sang a song. The boy sang some harmonies on chorus parts. I had never heard the song before and quite liked it. The girl had a really strong voice and the boy's guitar playing was pretty good.

Before my students left the assembly and came back to class, I looked up the song and found it. I think the version from the assembly (quaint, quiet, acoustic duet) was actually better than the real version, but I still quite like the song. I had never heard of the artist, but then realized after some quick research that she had one big radio hit, that I'm sure you've all heard.

Here is the song that I liked:

While looking on youtube for this song, I also found this one. I quite like it, also.

I don't think I knew much of a Weezer until my sister had a Weezer-obsessed student at Hunter who she used to talk about. I wouldn't really say that I am a Weezer fan, but I am a Weezer appreciator. Chase, my rockin' 5th grade guitar student first introduced me to this song. He's also introduced me to the world of AC/DC, a world in which I must say I hadn't experienced much before Chase (hopefully I've introduced him to some good stuff, too).

Anyway, if you watch this video closely, did you notice Rivers Cuomo has quite a bald spot? And, do you like the matching sweatsuits?
