More Guster!

Here. More Guster. I like them. Did I mention I am excited about their new album. See what you think of this song. No Jesus this time, but definitely a little "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" near the end.

Molly - 4 Month Stats

We went to see Dr. Havlik today. I had to get a sub and then leave school for a bit. Of course I was happy to do that because Molly is my priority, but it was still strange. When I returned, the sub had told my students I was with my little girl at the doctor. So, I returned to, "Is your baby sick? What's wrong?"

Then, my favorite was, "Where is she now?"
"She's back at the day care," I said.
"How can you take your baby to a day care. You should be home with her."
"Well," I responded, "Someone has to teach you."
"Duh. We don't HAVE to do math. You can leave."

Anyway . . . on to Molly's stats . . .

Height: 26 5/8 inches - 99th percentile
Weight: 16 lbs 2 oz - 93rd percentile
Head: 16.2 in - 58th percentile (not sure why her head is still small, but at least it is staying proportional)

Other things of mention . . .
  • no heart murmur heard this time
  • slightly flat head, so we need to focus Molly's attention to her left side
  • 4 vaccinations in her thighs and 1 orally
  • developmentally she is doing all that she is supposed to do except "push-ups," since she hates to be on her tummy
  • time to try rice cereal
  • Dr. Havlik also said a small dimple on her chest is a third nipple. Interesting. Maybe I shouldn't mention that here, but oh well. I probably also shouldn't mention that her Uncle Willie has the same thing (which was also noticed by Dr. Havlik). Interesting. Dr. Havlik told me today that it happens in about 20% of people and he sometimes hesitates telling parents that because they are overly concerned even though it rarely proves to be a concern. He said that he thinks he might have a nipple obsession and that's why he always notices things like that. Interesting. I really don't care for the word "nipple" now that I just put it in that paragraph 17 times.

She made it to 80!

This is my Grandma. She turned 80 on September 13th!

We celebrated on Sunday with the festivities! Aunt Geneil had an idea for all 8 children to each bring 10 flowers so that they could give Grandma 80 flowers on her birthday.

Grandma has had a rough year, but is still kicking, screaming, and shooting for an 81st birthday. She is confined to home more than she's been in her whole life and gets really frustrated and down sometimes. Her heart doesn't really work. Her lungs hardly work at all. And, most days, her feet don't work. She has long outlived her mother, but has nearly 13 more years before she's outlived her dad.

My Grandma Petersen didn't make it to 80 and once told me that she swore every morning when she woke up and realized she was still here. On the other hand, I think Grandma Huber probably swears every morning (and several other times throughout the day) just to make it through. I'm so grateful that I have had such a good relationship with both my Grandmas!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Naked Baby Giggles

Disclaimer: The video featured below contains partial nudidity of a baby.

See. She does laugh sometimes. She really doesn't cry all the time. She's actually quite a pleasant baby. Oh well.

Last week's adventure was yelling. This week Molly has added giggling. (The yelling has calmed down, though it's her new way to alert us that she is awake in the mornings). I've tried to capture it on camera a couple of times, but when she sees the flipcam, she stops laughing. I got her laughing pretty good in the bathtub last night, so I hurried and got the camera before she stopped.

James agreed to give her a bath and put her to bed while I put the groceries away and finished some homework. But, she was stinky, so I took care of the diaper and put her in the bath (without water) while we waited for him to come in the house from bringing in the groceries and taking out the trash.

Ignore my weird noises and just focus on the cute baby!
