I just told James . . . "I don't cook food that's healthy. I didn't grow up on a farm. I grew up at McDonald's." Ok, so that may not be exactly true. The farm part is true, but my mother may not agree with the healthy part. She would say, "I tried to get you to like other foods, but you just refused to eat them," or something like that.
I am sick of homework!!!! I was supposed to get this final project paper to my master's chair by Friday. Oh well. I'm still working on it. I have another one that is due for sure by Wednesday, but I'm stalling on this one. I figured, "What are they going to do to me? Withhold my diploma?" They are not even putting my name in the program for commencement!!! (I decided not to go. It's Friday. I am not taking work off to go. I didn't order a hood. My name wouldn't be in the program anyway. Stupid. I'll put on my own ceremony at the end of the summer when I get my actual diploma in the mail.)
We went to the Binggeli's for dinner today. Molly took a while to warm up to everyone, but then was ok. She crawled all over the house and explored the bottom drawer in the bathroom. Annie and her family came down and it is always nice to see them. RyAnn recited some super long poem about a food fight that she is reciting in a program at school. It was pretty impressive!
We went to my aunt LeeAnn's on Friday night for a bridal shower for my cousin Jodi. Molly puked all over LeeAnn's floor. (Sorry, LeeAnn.) Molly woke up on Saturday super feeverish and threw up again Saturday night. She's been pretty good today, so hopefully she's ok. She's eating fine, but doesn't want to drink anything. Not sure why.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .. . . .. . my house is a mess. I want to move!!!!
Willie is playing AAU again this spring. He's played 3 games, but we haven't made it to one yet. He is supposed to have two more tomorrow, but after a hard fall and a concussion on Friday night, I don't think he'll be playing for a while.
What else?
This is my least favorite time of the school year. I work hard all year to try and teach students math. During the next 2 weeks, we review and study for "the cruts," also known as the CRT's. CRT once stood for Criterion Reference Test, but I have decided that what it really stands for is Constant Reinforcement that you're a Terrible Teacher. Yes ladies and gentleman, this is the week before the CRT when every student swears "we've never learned this," "you never taught us this," "this is soooo stupid."
I love reviewing (note sarcasm)!!!!!
I recently looked up the last CRT scores for my students. For most of them, it was their 8th grade Pre-Algebra score. The results? Average 80% NOT proficient. Great (note sarcasm again). In my job, some days are good and I think I am making a difference in the world. Then there are the days that I remind my students of everything I have tried so hard to teach them this year . . . and we all fail.
Time to stop blogging and get back to my never ending paper.
Do you remember the "Never Ending Story?" That movie scared me as a little kid.
Oh . . . and here is a picture of me, Annie, and Emily (though it is extremely unflattering of all of us). We finally got to finish our BYU Women's Conference this last Thursday. Though it did require going to Poovo and hanging out in a dark gym where stinky BYU Jimmer-wanna-be's usually hangout with their female refs, it was a good experience and we got to talk to some cool people. Plus, Annie said I was focused and redeemed myself from being a bit out of focus (and a goof off) during our planning meetings. Thanks for being great booth buddies, Annie and Emily!
