Molly does. Every day is a new adventure, apparently, with this little girl and her ears. She got the tubes a week and a half ago and the good news is they are working. How do we know they are working. For the last 2 days, green goo has been flowing out of them. I shouldn't say flowing, but rather steadily gathering and oozing. If the oozing isn't cleaned up (by a q-tip or mom's pinky fingernail), then it becomes extreme caked-on crustiness.
She's had a bit of a runny nose since the weekend and so I'm assuming she's just got a bit of a cold. Otherwise, she's fine. No fever. Not too much out-of-the-ordinary grumpiness. Basically, what normally comes out of a runny nose, is now coming out her ears. The good news is that if it weren't for the tubes, the gooey green stuff would probably be pooling behind her ear drums and causing yet another infection. The other good news is that she is done taking yucky oral antibiotics (to which I would only give her after a taste of ibuprofen because she likes the taste of it and is tricked into swallowing the yucky stuff). The other good news is that this was remedied with a phone call and not a doctor's visit. Now, she has ear drops. 5 drop. 3 times a day. Repeat for 7 days. Hopefully they clear up the green goo.
Also, related to the green goo or not, I don't know, but she has had a hard time falling asleep the last 2 nights. Last night James and I fought with her for almost an hour and a half before she gave in. She's usually a really good sleeper and I don't know what the deal was. It wasn't a sad, "I don't feel good cry." It was more of a "Grrr. I'm mad at the world cry."
Tonight she did the same thing, but I didn't want to fight her. I gave in. I put her in the car and we drove to Walgreens to pick up her ear drops. She was asleep by the time we got back home and should stay asleep. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
And . . . in case you were wondering about it, I've given you a diagram of the middle ear.
And . . . just to report, James got released from being the EQ President tonight. If you see an extra smile on his face the next time you see him, that's why.
