I Yelled

I know, I'm a dork, but I got mad. I yelled tonight. I am so sick and tired of watching Hunter basketball suck it up. They're good kids. I couldn't take it any more, so I started yelling.

"Fire it up."
"You can do it!"
"Hustle."
"Look to score."
"Smart passes."
"Defense."
"Rebound."
"Good job now do it again."
"C'mon Hunter. Only 10 more points. You can do it."
"You've got nothing to lose. Play your guts out."
"Are you gonna let a fat lady with a baby yell louder than you?"

I even went down a few steps on the bleachers to get closer. Then, I moved to the other side and went down a few more rows. A few heads turned. Most ignored me. It didn't work. They lost.
I was sweating. I have a bit of a cold and was hoarse to begin with, but now I am am very hoarse. I'm tired.

They have lost TON of kids on this team and the kids that are left are GOOD kids who try hard and do their best most of the time. They need someone to commend them and point out the good things they do. They need someone to believe in them and fire them up.

. . . Apparently it wasn't me.

there is nothing wrong with a little sports yelling. It's good for the soul.
