Doctor Visits

On Thursday, Molly, Jack, and I went to visit Dr. Havlik.  It was Molly's 2.5 year check up and Jack's 6 month check up.  Here are the results.

Molly - 
Height - 36 in (51%)
Weight - 31.1 lbs (74%)

• Molly got to wear this cool little Looney Tunes hospital gown.
• She turned into shy mode and would only answer some of the doctor's questions and when she did speak she whispered.
• She passed all the developmental questions including that she knows at least 6 body parts, she can share, at least half of her words can be understood, she can walk up stairs unassisted, etc.
• Molly was very sympathetic to Jack getting his shots.  She cringed in pain when he got poked and then said over and over again, "it's ok, Jack, it's ok."  She was worried and very concerned.
• Here ears look good, but I didn't realize until after we finished that I didn't ask about whether her last tube was still there or not.  One had fallen out at her last visit, but he didn't say anything about it this time.

Jack - 

Height - 27.75 in (87%)

Weight - 20.25 lbs (88%)

Head - 17.7 in (81%)

• Jack is really noisy and just yelled most of the visit.
• He thought the paper on the exam table was the coolest thing ever and wanted to take it with him every time I lifted him off the table.
• He passed all of the developmental questions except that he doesn't roll over.  He does pass things from one hand to another, reach for a toy in front of him, follow your voice, smile, know his name, etc.
• Jack has had really bad skin that has flared up over the last couple of weeks and Dr. Havlik said it is just Eczema.  We'll keep putting stuff on it.

It was a good appointment.  It was a little crazy to take them both, but since their birthdays are both in May, we will likely be doing that again for the next couple of years.  It's ok, though.

After we left, Jack zonked from the stress of getting shots and Molly and I went to Chick-fil-A for lunch.  She zonked on the way home and then all three of us had a nice nap once we got home (we played hookie and didn't go back to school for the last hour or so of the day - it was nice).

The Last Twinkie

Today Molly and I spent a few hours hanging out at my Grandpa's house putting up his Christmas decorations.  He usually has a stash of Hostess products in the kitchen, but given the current state of Hostess, I made particular note today that he had exactly 1 Twinkie and 1 Cupcake.  I told him he could probably sell each of them for a good chunk of change and he just laughed.  Molly found the Twinkie a while later and decided she wanted to eat it.  I decided we had better document it.

By the way, my grandpa thinks that the whole "going out of business" is just a scam to break the union and that Hostess is going to come back probably sooner than later.

By the way again, I just looked on Ebay and a box of Twinkies is going for $20-$30.

Hunter Basketball

The Hunter basketball season is now underway.  The Wolverines are 1-1 after two good games this week.  On Thursday they played a hard-fought game against East.  The kids started out a little rusty and East took advantage of that.  Plus, East has one high scorer who rarely misses and Hunter had a hard time shutting him down.  It was a good first game, though.

On Friday night we ventured out to Grantsville to watch another battle.  Hunter came out on top of this one and Willie played awesome.  Though he bricked a lot of shots in the first half, he finally had a few fall in the second, but he played excellent defense and had lots of rebounds.  They looked a lot more relaxed and put together this time.

Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today we spent Thanksgiving with the Petersen Family at my Aunt LeeAnn's house.  Everything was great and we had a wonderful day!  James had to work part of the day (Thanksgiving so that he gets Christmas off), but made it to dinner just before the prayer.  Molly, Jack, and I rode up with my mom, dad, and Willie and had a fun ride.  Molly had fun playing with Elli-Wyatt in the basement and Jack accidentally hit Quinn in the face (he was just a little over-excited).  I took sugar cookies, zucchini bread, and squash bread (it wasn't gross, but strange and made to get rid of a squash, but a few people tried it and my Uncle Paul said he actually liked it, but maybe he was just being polite).  We ended the day by stopping at Grandpa Huber's for a quick visit and then home.

I have so much to be thankful for . . . family, a home, wonderful kids, a husband, family, siblings, a car that runs, a good job, good people that take care of my kids so I can do my job, family, the Church, cheese, potatoes, family, our country, knowledge, family, crazy 2-year-olds, cute and happy 6-month-olds, Coke, grandparents, in-laws, Disney movies, family, and many, many other things.

(The pictures above were taken from my sister's blog because I didn't take a camera.  I like this picture of all of us - minus my mom and dad - because I think it is actually flattering of me!  I also like Wyatt's tongue sticking out and Quinn's crazy glance.  I am, however, shorter than everyone.  Sigh.)
