All things come to and end

Unfortunately in the world of basketball tournaments, it only ends positively for 1 team . . . and that is definitely not Hunter. The Wolverines played this afternoon. Some of them, and one blonde one in particular, played well and played his guts outs. Unfortunately, it just didn't happen for them.

Negatives
  • Hunter started out of sync, flat, and in a deficit early. There were lots of turnovers, not enough shots taken, not enough balls rebounded, and just sloppy play.
  • Willie, though playing his guts out, getting a few rebounds, and draining a beautiful little jumper from foul line range, didn't get to play much in the 2nd half. Why? Who knows.
  • Their just didn't seem to be a lot of heart or enthusiasm from some of the players on the court.
  • Coaching . . . Run a zone defense against Hunter and you will win. There's got to be a better way to solve the problem than stalling and shooting 3's (even though we did hit quite a few 3's and that's what kept it as close as it was). Put strange lineups in with kids that are playing poorly and you will not improve. Make a big run in the 2nd quarter, but then don't put that same lineup back in and well . . . whatever.
  • Terrible officiating and mega 1-sided foul calling in favor of Bingham. The game was won at the foul line and Hunter never had a chance to get there.
  • Bingham has super ugly uniforms.
  • The Deseret News gave Willie's points to the wrong Petersen. They gave them to C. PetersOn and he didn't even get in the game. Go figure.
Positives
  • Twitter and Facebook bring out quite the Hunter student section. Way to go school spirit.
  • Playing on a big floor in a big arena is cool, even if you lose.
  • Willie made the tennis team without even trying out yesterday and practice starts tomorrow. Go tennis!
  • There was a huge support from the WKP fan club - mom, dad, sisters, niece and nephews, Woods, friend Emily and family, young men's presidents, and even Grandpa and a couple of uncles.

The end. There are some pictures in the D-News, but none of Willie and I didn't want to post them. March is nearly upon us. Brackets will be filled in soon. And then . . . the basketballs will hibernate for a season. Until next year . . .
