I Heart Basketball and Not Ward Dinners

Yesterday morning started out with Willie's Jr. Jazz game. His team was in their tournament championship game against the arch nemesis man-child's team. Willie played a litte disoriented during a few parts, but did really well for most of it, even though he was a trooper just for playing with strep throat. The team won! That was the best part! Congratulations Wolverines!

In other basketball news . . .

the Utes have had a bit of an ugly conference tournament, but pulled out a win anyway. Thursday's game was really ugly, but at least we got to watch it. I was totally bummed because I turned on Friday's game that wasn't there because it was only on some super digital triple 5000 cable channel. Then Saturday's game was on a completely different channel yet again. I got to watch the first half (which wasn't very pretty either) and then we had to go to the ward party that I signed us up for. I called my mom and had her send me updates throughout the game, though, so that was good.

What was the ward party? It was an assigned seat social. Every table had a theme. You bring your own food to go with the theme. Our theme was "Our Mission To Mars." Our menu consisted of:

-- the red bird of mars (BBQ crockpot chicken)

-- craters of mars (mashed potatoes)

-- galaxy fruit salad

-- blue romulen ale (I guess that is some sort of Star Trek reference)

-- rolls (I don't remember their code name)

-- Mars mud pie

The party ended up being not near as terrible as we thought, but we still had to miss the second half of the game. Oh well. Another couple at our table was late because a 16 year old girl drove into (and totaled) their parked car sitting in front of their house. Oops. I guess there are worse things than missing a basketball game.
