Another Strange Dream

Our whole family really needs to change our sleeping habits.  For the last month or so we have just been out of sorts.  James and I end up sleeping on the couch or in Molly's bed.  We are up wandering around during the wee hours of the night.  We finally go to bed minutes before the alarms go off and then we over sleep.  We need to figure out how to fix it.  But in the meantime, it lends itself to totally bizarre dreams.  Here was this morning's . . .

I went to visit a polygamous temple.  I'm not sure what my purpose was in doing so except that I was trying not to be found out.  Inside it was a large Roman amphitheater with big round columns and weird locker room things all around the outside of the amphitheater.  Children were welcome.  Men and women intermingled.  I had Jack with me, but was definitely out of place.  It was weird and there was some type of stage production going on.  There was a guy on the side of the stage leaning against a fence, waiting for his turn to go on stage for "Oklahoma."

People kept asking me questions I couldn't answer and they were slowly figuring out that I was not one of them.  Jack fell asleep on my shoulder and I used that as an excuse to escape, but they kept questioning.  I did get out somehow.  It was weird.

I was also stressed because I couldn't figure out who the Polygamous couples were.  There seemed to be only one woman (and a bunch of children) for every man.  I think I came to the conclusion that each husband could only take one wife to the temple at a time.

There was this one man with a dirty suit coat on and he kept showing up.

And then Si was there.

Field Trip

Molly had a field trip today to the Tracy Aviary.  James had a less busy day and wanted to go with them.  He said they had a lot of fun and could have forgone the Aviary to just play on the playground.  Molly was good and he enjoyed walking around with the kids.

Strange Dream.

I woke up a little late this morning.  When that happens, because I am in my lightest sleep and the alarm is going off, I tend to have strange dreams.  This morning's was no exception.

I was going to Disneyland.  We were in the motel room.  My family - James, Molly, and Jack - were there.  My parents and Willie were there.  My grandma and grandpa were there and sitting in the corner of the room with their canes.  There was mention of the Woods being there, but they had already left for breakfast, so I don't remember actually seeing them.  I believe they had made reservations for 10 and when they realized that no one else was ready nor going to join them, they went on ahead so they wouldn't lose their reservation.  There was also mention of the Howden's being there, but I don't recall seeing them either.

And then . . .  my students were there.  Weird.  There were a handful of student from my ESL History class who had joined us.  Several of them were staying in the same room (it was very long with lots of beds) as my family, my parents, and the Woods.  I remember specific things about 3 particular foreign exchange students.  Erik had shaved half his head.  Julie died her hair black.  Kenji kept running off with his new found Japanese girlfriend whom he met at Disneyland.

Then I woke up.  It was very strange.

It's Not Much

 . . .  But it's a start.

We got a load of dirt (6 cubic yards) on Friday and spent all night Friday and most of Saturday moving it out of the driveway and into the flower beds, the garden, and what was left went on top of the wall.  James moved most of it and I was responsible for smoothing it out and putting it where I wanted it.  I was also responsible for the children.  Molly and all the neighbor boys (who came like magnets to the dirt pile) took turns throwing dirt at each other.  Jack was in heaven just to be outside, but mad because he had to stay by mom.  He loved playing in the dirt, though.  Both of them left dirt rings in the bathtub Friday night.

On Saturday we bought a few flowers.  I just planted some pansies and some little blue flower ground cover.  I think it is still to early for petunias or geraniums.  I'll just buy a few things at a time and get them planted.

Out of 50 tulip bulbs, I only had about a dozen come up with stems this year.  I don't know if they froze or what happened, but they started coming up and then the leaves just turned sickly.  They were great last year, so I don't understand what went wrong.  (I took this photo with my phone last night and today the dozen or so tulips did actually bloom and look really pretty).

James was sore and tired today from moving all the dirt.  I was sore and tired from moving an enormous rock from the back yard to the front yard (and then being up all night with Molly because she couldn't breath and therefore couldn't sleep).

I think this time of year is my favorite.  I love the anticipation of summer, the warmer weather, and a chance to work in my yard.  It is fun to get going on it this year!
