Hermana Binggeli - Part 2

A little while ago, I went on splits with the Spanish speaking sister missionaries. (Click Here) They called me up again last week, but we were in Idaho, so I said no. They called me yet again on Monday night and I felt guilty, so I said, "Sure." I don't speak any Spanish. One of the sisters spoke pretty good English. None of the investigators spoke English. I only got some of the story when it was interpreted for me.

Tonight we made two visits. It wasn't "splits" like before because we were going to visit Jonathan, a single male. I thought sisters visiting single men was out of the question, but I learned tonight that it's okay as long as you follow the "rule of 3." I was the third member of the rule. This guy was pretty nice. He lives in a house with a whole bunch of other men. One was fixing tacos with refried beans and tortilla shells. It was kind of messy. He cleaned off his plate by scraping it with the plastic bag from the shells. Anyway . . . Jonathan was pretty receptive. The message was the plan of salvation. He wants to get baptized. The only problem is that he is moving this weekend to another home in Magna. He'll be out of these sisters' area. They were bummed.

Next, we went to visit a family in a basement apartment. The sisters told me that they had a dog that was "very playful, but didn't bite." I soon learned that "playful" meant runs and jumps all over the place. The dog then paused for a minute and peed on the floor (sorry for another post about urination.) It was gross. The people we were visiting just looked at it, shrugged, and continued talking. Gross. The dog crawled all over me and licked me. Yuck. I was grossed out.

Anyway, so the sisters were a little disappointed at this house, too. They had told me that the husband was ready to be baptized this Saturday. The last time they met, he had said that he was ready to get baptized without his wife if she still didn't want to. Well, his wife is not willing to leave "her saints" and she called her mother and the mother told here she would not approve of her getting baptized. The husband then decided he was not going to leave his wife behind. The baptism for Saturday is now cancelled. Sorry for the sisters, but I guess that's how it goes.

That's all for tonight. The church is true . . . in English and Spanish.
